It’s meticulously designed extremely wide f/1.8 maximum aperture can produce shallow depth of field and is effective in low light situations. Plus it is also Movie and Stills compatible (MSC) so you could use it for both functions. The Movie and Stills compatible feature makes this lens great for shooting quality shots; it is great for tracking a moving child or pet and provides a quick and silent focus mechanism for movies and still photography.  Because the lens is made from extra-high refractive lenses, it produces excellent contrast and sharpness in all shooting situations.
