The HD Pentax-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED SDM WR Telephoto Zoom Lens is designed for use with 35mm-format full-frame DSLRs and lets you capture high-quality images of a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, portraits, close-ups and sports events. Its compact, lightweight, weather-resistant body makes it portable to carry anywhere with ease. The high-grade, multi-layer HD coating on the optics optimizes overall lens coating performance, while assuring edge-to-edge sharpness and minimizing flare and ghost images in backlit situations. The HD Pentax-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED provides a wide a photographic coverage with a minimum focusing distance of 3.1 feet and 0.32x magnification.

Compact, Lightweight and Portable

Despite the lens’ compact, lightweight design, it does not compromise on performance and is a perfect companion for handheld outdoor photography. It offers a focal length range from 70 to 210mm when used with a 35mm full-frame DSLR and can also be easily integrated in any APS-C-format camera system. When used with an APS-C-format camera, its focal length range is extended to the equivalent of 107 to 322mm in the 35mm format.

HD Coating to Enhance Imaging Power

Featuring Pentax's latest HD Coating, a high-grade, multi-layer coating, not only improves light transmittance but also reduces average reflection in the visible light range. This minimizes image flaring and ghosting even when shooting in demanding lighting conditions such as back lighting.

Lens Construction

The lens features a 20-element in 14-group optical design that incorporates three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and two anomalous dispersion glass elements. These combine to deliver high-contrast, high-resolution images with edge-to-edge sharpness, while effectively compensating for distortion and chromatic and coma aberrations.

Can Be Used as a Tele-Macro Lens

With a minimum focusing distance of 3.1 feet (both tele and wide range) and maximum magnification of 0.32x, this lens can be used as a tele-macro lens. When mounted on an APS-C camera system, maximum magnification is extended to 0.48x.

High-Precision Exposure Control

The HD Pentax-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED Telephoto Zoom Lens uses an electromagnetic diaphragm control that provides a high-precision exposure control during video shooting. Plus, the lens’ rounded nine-blade diaphragm helps produce a natural, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect, while minimizing the streaking effect of point light sources.

Built-In Supersonic Direct-Drive Motor

This lens incorporates a ring-type Supersonic Direct-Drive Motor to achieve quiet, high-speed AF operation and improved operability in outdoor shooting. It also utilizes a Quick-Shift Focus System that lets you instantly shift to manual-focus operation immediately after locking the subject in focus during AF operation just by pressing the shutter-release button halfway down.

Weather-Resistant Construction, Perfect for Outdoor Photography

This zoom lens features a weather-resistant construction to prevent the intrusion of water into the lens barrel. Its exterior surfaces are coated with a special SP coating that is highly repellent to water, grease and dirt and allows for easy cleaning.
